Joy Anderson enjoyed hearing about Funeral preparation from Kim Watson from Lester and Sons funeral directors in the Thurgoona Community Centre sunroom.
Why did you come today, Joy?
Joy: “I was interested in this topic because if someone dies in the family, I have no idea where to even start. So, I decided to come today to get some ideas. I now realise, there is so much to learn and so many things you can do. Talking to somebody like Kim, you can pick up so much. She has also provided me with a form that I can use in gathering information. If anything was to happen to one of my family, at least it will all have been done – and especially for our kids – they then won’t have much to do.
What might you say to people who might be a bit reluctant to attend a session like today’s?
Joy: “I think it’s especially important. Years ago, people were reluctant to talk about such a topic. However, we all know that one day we will pass away. It makes it easier for everyone by doing something in advance, so why not talk about it now?”
TCC will be providing another session on 20th March 2024 from 1pm to 3pm.
Kim explained, “It’s good to look at talking about the subject to let your loved ones know what you want. You can pre-plan and even pre-pay, just to get your say and what you would like.”
